Integrated Transport Plan Phase 1
During the 2004 Bridlington Regeneration public consultation, transport improvements were identified as one of the highest priorities, especially to deal with seasonal congestion and parking issues. Proposals were developed that aimed to give the town centre back to residents through better access and improved parking arrangements.
Transport consultant, WSP, worked with Council officers to develop a package of improvements for Bridlington (an Integrated Transport Plan) worth £4.7m. The improvements were based around a new Park & Ride facility at South Cliff, junction improvements and electronic signage.
The main projects included:
- Park & Ride at South Cliff
- A165 South Shore junction improvement (roundabout)
- A165 to South Cliff new access road
- A614 Bridlington Bay Rd / Carnaby junction improvement (roundabout)
- A165 Kingsgate / Bessingby Rd junction improvement (signals)
- Variable Message Signs including number of parking spaces available

Bridlington Park & Ride
Completed in Summer 2010, Bridlington Park & Ride is situated approximately a mile to the south of Bridlington town centre, at South Cliff car park. Whilst this car park gives direct access to the beach and other facilities it also provides a Park & Ride service, operating from April to September.
The complimentary link to the town centre is available to all persons who are part of the travelling party, who have paid to use the South Cliff long stay car park (max 7 persons per vehicle).
Two types of transport are available - the Spa Light Explorer coach or the Spa Light Express land train.

Junction Improvements
As part of the Bridlington Integrated Transport Plan, construction of two new roundabouts was completed in April 2010, at the A614 Carnaby junction and the A165 South Shore junction. Also, in July 2010 work to replace the roundabout at the Kingsgate and Bessingby Rd junction with controlled traffic signals was completed. These schemes included Variable Message Signs and car park direction and vacancy signs, all designed to improve traffic flow into and around the town.
