Bridlington Town Centre Area Action Plan
As part of the East Riding Local Plan, the Council produced an Area Action Plan (AAP) for Bridlington. The Bridlington Town Centre AAP sets out the Council's course of action for the future planning of Bridlington town centre and contains the proposals for development projects and spatial planning policies up to 2021.
Following public consultation, the Council submitted the AAP to the Department for Communities and Local Government in April 2011. The AAP was considered by an independent Inspector at public examination hearings in December 2011 and May 2012. The Inspector’s report was published in August 2012 and concluded that the AAP satisfied the requirements of Section 20(5) of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 and met the criteria for soundness in the National Planning Policy Framework, subject to the inclusion of some minor post-publication amendments, together with two main modifications in the form of introducing a policy on the presumption in favour of sustainable development and that the area at the top of the harbour not be included within the Burlington Parade development. The AAP was amended accordingly and adopted by the Council on 9 January 2013.
